WWII: Soviets v. Germans

Mike & Jim's Soviet force is entirely inexperienced reluctant troops.
Steve's Germans are entirely Fearless Veterans, so consideably outnumbered.
Encounter battle scenario with equal points.

The photographer forgot to take a pic at the start. The pics are taken from behind the Soviets.
The Soviets are advancing all along the front with the first contact on the Soviet left.
The battle turned into 3 separate fights.
On the left Jim's Soviets attacked immediately to initiate deadly close combat in the wood.
In the centre Mike sent some troops to assist Jim, but they were intercepted by Marders & infantry.
On the far flank the fight developed more slowly as the Soviets had further to go to get into action.
Casualties mounted quickly in the close range fighting.
On the left the Soviets took the wood, but had only 2 shaken infantry squads surviving.
In the centre the Germans held their ground.
On the right the Soviet infantry's weight of numbers prevailed & they took the wood while the tanks bashed each other down to just 3 T34/85's v. 2 Mk IVs.
With dusk falling both sides were content to stop fighting & send news of the virtual destruction of their enemy back to HQ.
It was a good test of the points system to have two very different quality forces fighting to a draw.
