Bolt Action

 Mike's Brits v. Mark's Germans. 1250 pts.

The battlefield was recycled from last week.  Germans on the left.  Objectives on the two bridges & the two T-junctions.
The Germans held 2 objective to 1 with one in dispute until the 6th turn when the Brits assaulted & destroyed 2 german infantry units & rushed 2 objectives.

This will be the last Camp Cromwell battle for a few weeks as I am setting off on mainland road trip tomorrow.

Napoleonic: French v. Austrians

Same armies as last time.  Terrain tweraked abit.  Battle fought crosswise.
Austrians: Jim & Mike.  French: Mark.

View frim behind Austrian right.
The Austrians initially advance cautiously on the whoel front.
The French are sending their cavalry reserve from centre to left & advancing into the central farm.
On the near flank, the Austrians pull their cavalry back in the face of superiot numbers whioe light troops skirmish in the orchard.
In the centre the Frencj deploy onthe river line while the Austrians pull back out of artillery range.
On the far flank the Austrians have adavnced around the French right flank which has been pulled back to the river line.

At this point the French decide to retreat while the going is good.
They were reluctant to chance a cavalry attack on the right as it woull be 50/50.
The centre wa s stalemate.
On the far flank the Austrians had deployed a massed battery & a ring of muskets aimed at the angle & the French decided they couldn't counter the inevitable converging attack hat.

Have decided that, we decided it would be fun to actually fight the cavalry battle.  The French actually won the cavalry fight, but with significant cost & their infantry was held off in the fields & they could not exploit the win.

Napoleonic: French v. Austrians

 French: Jim & Steve
Austrians: Mark & Mike
Each player had a small corps of 6 or 7 inf, 2 or 3 cav & 2 guns.
Random deployment gave a batle fough lengthwise on the table.

The French are in the foregaround, Jim on the left facing Mark, Steve facing Mike.

Both sides made a limited advance. The Austrians are transferring all their cavalry to their right flank.
On the right the Austrians crossed the river.
On the left the French took upa reverse slope posiiton on the ridge, but were attacked by infantry & cavalry.  The Austrains ost theri first wave, but their second wave broke the French infantry on the ridge & the French cavalry joined in a retreat back to the river line.
On the right the French are counterattacking the Austrian advance up the slope.
On the left the Austrians are regrouping as the French make a new defemse line on the river.
On the right a confused fight is continuing.
On the left the Austrians have initiated a fire fight on the river line.
On the right the Austrians have fallen back over the river.
On the right neither side has enough fit trioops left to attack.
On the left, the French were getting the worst of the firefight & have fallen back through the farm.

Both sides had lost similar numbers of units broken, but the Austirnas have a clear advantage in unsghaken troops.  It was decided that the French could hold out until nightfsll & make an orderly withdrawal.
